Rob & Rick Smith are owners of Grove Tools Inc.

Grove Tools is a CNC machining company located in Dubuque Iowa. We have been in business for 37 years and have built our company on quality and service: Our singular goal is to meet the customer’s special needs and exceed their expectations.

The idea for a seat lock came after visiting our sister at college. Strolling through campus I noticed all the bikes were locked to racks with the seat removed. I learned the owners remove the seats so they are not stolen. I was told they carry them to class or into their homes/dorms.

I talked to a friend who owns a successful bike and fitness shop, (The Bike Shack) and he confirmed stolen seats are a big problem and a bigger issue in larger cities and colleges.

I knew there had to be a better way.

It was the beginning of our quest to “build the better mouse trap.” We set out to create a lock, easy to operate, convenient, and cost effective.

I believe the Quick-Release Seat Lock meets and exceeds these goals.
